An accounting practice with up to 8 employees faced significant challenges with their on-premises legacy accounting system, which used a SQL Server database.

The primary issues includes

Our Approach & Solution

To address these challenges, TappingToad implemented a two-phase solution:

Phase 1: Tactical Interim Solution

  • Local On-Prem Spring Boot Application: Developed a custom Spring Boot Java application to bridge the gap between the legacy system & a modern SaaS platform.
  • Data Synchronization: Enabled the application to read client & job updates from the SQL Server database & sync this information to the SaaS platform, ClickUp.
  • Agile Transition: Leveraged ClickUp’s Kanban board to manage client’s jobs, providing a more agile approach to task management.
  • Enhanced Task Management & CRM: Utilized ClickUp’s powerful task management features, which also served as a CRM, improving operational efficiency & client management.

Phase 2: Strategic Long-Term Solution

  • System Evaluation & Selection: Conducted a thorough assessment of various state-of-the-art accounting practice management SaaS platforms over a 6-12 month period.
  • Finalization of KarbonHQ: Selected KarbonHQ as the strategic platform due to its comprehensive features, including triage, job/task management & robust reporting capabilities.
  • Seamless Migration: Facilitated the migration of operations from the legacy system to KarbonHQ, ensuring minimal disruption & maximum efficiency.
